The IC Board of
Trustees met in Beirut
for three days, from
October 7 to 9. A
busy schedule awaited
the eighteen members
who attended; their
time was spent in
intensive meetings dis-
cussing various impor-
tant matters, including
the purchase of cam-
pus space from AUB,
plans for the future
development of both
campuses, Ras Beirut and Ain Aar, and for a major capital
campaign. Fortunately, they still found time to attend a
reception held in their honor on October 7, be present at a
dinner hosted specifically for them by Board member Mr.
Imad Taher ’58, tour the campus, and attend the Founder’s
day celebration in the IC amphitheater.

New Alumni Chapter in Syria
After Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and
United Arab Emirates, there was Syria. On June 24, Dr.
Arthur Charles and
Mr. Moufid Beydoun ’64
journeyed to
Damascus, Syria, raising the curtain on a new alumni chap-
ter. They were hosted by
the Baalbaki brothers,
including
Zuheir ’80,
Hassan ’85,
and
Karim’94
, for lunch at
the family’s beautiful
ranch outside
Damascus. More then
forty alumni and friends
were present, including
Mr. Shakib Omari ’34,
who graduated from IC 70 years ago! The trip was a major
success, for it launched a new alumni chapter in Syria, and
began what shall hopefully become an annual event.
