CLASS OF ‘80 – ‘89
Hana Salaam Abdel-Malek ‘81
obtained last July 2006 a
Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology (with high distinc-
tion) from Université Saint Joseph. She is a clinical psychol-
ogist, as well as a psychoanalyst training member at “Paris
Institut” of Societé Psychanalytique de Paris (SPP).
Talal El-Khalil ‘81
and
Roula Abou Dargham ‘88
moved
back to Beirut two years ago. They are blessed with three
children, Mira (11 years), Nour-Talal (5) and Sany (3). Talal
and Roula write that “although this period has been a diffi-
cult one for Lebanon, we are glad that we have moved back
to be among family and friends in the country we love so
much.” Talal is the General Manager for PepsiCo’s East Med
operations and Roula is a full-time mom.
Bassil Farraj ‘81
and his wife are expecting their second
daughter, Sarah, to be born around the New Year. Bassil
and his wife have another daughter named Maria.
Leila Alameddine ‘82
has been appointed Head of Private
Banking at Europe Arab Bank (EAB), a fully owned sub-
sidiary of the Arab Bank plc and will be starting her new
job in February 2007. She will be a member of EAB’s
Executive Committee and will be based in London.
Prior to that, Leila was working at JPMorgan Private Bank in
New York since1994 covering clients in the Levant, Middle
East and Europe. She moved to London in 2002 where she
worked as Vice President in the Global Corporate Trust
department heading the Sales team covering Western
Europe, the Nordic region and the Middle East.
Rima El-Kawa ‘83
married Mark Westerhout on October 28,
2006, in a ceremony and reception held in Palo Alto,
California. The wedding was attended by many family and
friends, some of whom were from her class at IC! Rima is
currently a consultant at Barclays Global Investor as a
Software Project Manager.
Nadim (Ned) Jaroudi ‘83
lives in Dubai with his wife
Nazha Osseiran, whom he married last year. He is Vice-
President of Marketing for global software vendor CA, cov-
ering Eastern Europe, Middle East, and North Africa.”
Hussam Rinno ‘83
came recently to Lebanon to join UBS
AG. He had been living in Bahrain for quite some time
working with Noriba Bank, a subsidiary of UBS.
Lamia Jaroudi ‘84
moved to Dubai a few years ago. If you

Nabil Tabbara ‘84
is a partner in Tabbara Fireworks, owner
of International Mega Trading and partner in United
Company for Nuts (Zein Roastery). Nabil is living in Beirut
with his wife and three children, Aya, Jamila and Jassmin.

are happy to announce
the birth of their first child, Ella. She was born on the
November 2, 2006, in Dubai.
George J. Bitar M.D. ‘86,
Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
and Medical Director,Bitar Cosmetic Surgery Institute
(Offices in Northern Virginia, U.S.A.) would like to share
with you two great things that have happened to him in the
past year.
Dr. Bitar says: “First, I fell in love and got married to a
beautiful and amazing girl, Rima Khalaf, soon-to-be a PhD
graduate in Electrical Engineering from UCLA. We were
married in Lebanon on July 7, 2006, and are now back in
the U.S.A. with our prayers for a peaceful year for our
beloved Lebanon. We live in Northern Virginia, U.S.A.,
where Rima is working on her PhD and I am busy with my
plastic surgery practice. The second wonderful thing to hap-
pen to me this year is that I was named the national “Man
of the Year “ by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in the
U.S.A. by being the national record fundraiser over a ten-
week campaign in memory of my grandmother and a dear
friend who died from blood cancer. As a result, I made tele-
vision and national newspaper appearances on behalf of the
society.
Nila Ekmekji Festekjian ‘87
left IC when she was in the
6 th grade (1986) to live in the United States. She is married
and blessed with three children, Artoun (12), Andre (10) and
Allan (7). Nila enjoys living with her family in New Jersey,
U.S.A.
Shereen Ghandour ‘87
has been in New York City for the
past five years. She works for Marriott International with the
responsibility of representing the Marriott hotel chain to
Fortune 500 companies in the United States. Shereen keeps
in touch with many Lebanese IC alumni residing in the
