Karim Mirza ‘99
and
Dana Taher ‘99
married in September
2006 and are now living in Dubai.
Sally Sheim ‘99
finished her MS degree in Medical Physics
in 2005. She is currently working as a Medical Physicist at
the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit-U.S.A.
CLASS OF ‘00 – ‘06
Lama El-Dahdah ‘00
moved with her parents as well her
three brothers Hamid, Bachir and Nadim, who are also IC
graduates, to Columbus, Ohio. Lama received a Bachelor of
Science in Molecular Genetics with a minor in Psychology
in June of 2004 from Ohio State University. She then moved
to Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from Northwestern
University in March of 2006 with a Masters in Genetic
Counseling. Lama now lives in Rochester, Minnesota and
works at the Mayo Clinic. She is part of the Department of
Medical Genetics but spends most of her days in the
Obstetrics Department working with Maternal-Fetal-
Medicine specialists to counsel women about their pregnan-
cies. Lama says: “I have made many friends here (including
Lebanese – yes, wherever you go you will find a Lebanese!)
and I go back to Ohio to visit my family often. I try to come
to Lebanon every year to remember my roots and enjoy the
Lebanese lifestyle.”
Fouad Itani ‘00
and
Raghda Mourtada ‘01
got engaged on
May 6,2006 and are planning to have a great wedding in
June of 2007. Raghda is currently working at H&C Leo
Burnett in Beirut as a Communications Executive.
Loubna El Amine ‘01
is currently pursuing a PhD in politics
(political theory) at Princeton University, U.S.A.
Joe Daoud ‘01
graduated with distinction from AUB in June
of 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. He is
currently pursuing his Masters degree in Design and
Technology at Parsons the New School for Design in New
York. This graduate program is specialized in digital design
media, including animation, motion graphics, interactivity
and computation. This opens the door to great internships
with some of the most prestigious companies such as Pixar
and MTV.
Fares Hamade ‘01
graduated from AUB with a BS in
Biology, and afterward went to Montreal, Canada, were he
received a graduate certificate in Biotechnology from
McGill University. Upon completing his degree, he was
offered a position in the Department of Human Genetics at
McGill to continue his Masters in Genetics and work at The
Shriners Hospital for Children in Montreal. Fares has been
there for 14 months now and he will be finishing his thesis
in the summer of 2007. Fares has two publications coming
out this spring in the JBMR (Journal of Bone and Mineral
Research). He received an offer to pursue his PHD at
McGill in research work at the Shriners under the co-super-
vision of Dr. R. Hamdy M.D. and Dr. R. St.Arnaud PHD.
Hopefully, Fares will be continuing his PHD at Mcgill,
while pursing a part-time MBA at the John Molson School
of Business at Concordia. As Fares says: “I ultimately would
like to work in the booming Biotech-Pharmaceutical indus-
try. I miss my days at IC and you can’t imagine how many
people I knew from IC are here in Montreal; we have a
mini-IC reunion every weekend. I would like to say hi to all
my classmates and all the teachers who influenced me at IC
and those who did not influence me are ok too. Thank you
Ms. Feghali especially.”
Hassan Makkouk ‘02
is currently pursuing his 5th Year in
Civil Engineering at the University of Technology, Sydney.
Hassan received the George J Haggarty Award For Civil
Engineering Excellence in 2006. He is also working as a
full-time intern with Ove Arup & Partners Consulting
Engineers.
Samer Bekdash ‘02
graduated in June of 2006 from AUB
with a BE in Mechanical Engineering. He is now working
for Bechtel, the number-one Engineering and Construction
Company in the world in the Oil & Gas and Chemical
Industry. He is currently working on a large gas plant proj-
ect in Saudi Arabia.
Maher Abdel-Sattar ‘03
is currently a senior (4th year)
undergraduate in UCLA majoring in Molecular, Cell and
Developmental Biology and minoring in Human Complex
