Founder’s Day
At this year’s Founder’s Day celebration, Ian Reed, great-grandson
of IC’s founder, Alexander MacLachlan, and a member of the IC
Board of Trustees received the IC Gold Medal awarded to his
father, Lachlan Reed, a long-serving trustee, for his many years of
dedicated service to the school.
Founder’s Day this year also coincided with the annual meeting
of the IC Board of Trustees. Trustees were able to participate in
the Secondary School meeting, where they were treated to the
unveiling of the new recording of the Alma Mater and a birthday
cake for all, courtesy of the secondary class representatives.
alumni celebrating the 20th,
25th and 50th anniversaries
On Thursday, July 2nd, 2003, more than 100 alumni
from the classes of 1983 gathered to celebrate their
20th anniversary. The dinner party lasted until well
after midnight, and the class of ‘83 enjoyed reminiscing
about their old school days with some of their former
teachers. A few days later, more than 200 alumni from
the classes of 1978 and 1953, IC faculty, and staff
gathered on July 5th in the garden of Martin House to
celebrate their Silver and Golden Jubilees. President
Arthur Charles and Vice President for Alumni and
Development Moufid Beydoun welcomed the group. Mr.
Nabil Haddad ‘78 spoke on behalf of his class with a
presentation showing campus pictures from the 70’s.
Mr. George Yacoub ‘53 spoke for his classmates thank-
ing IC and the Alumni Office for their efforts in recreat-
ing old memories and bringing together school friends
who had not seen each other for many years. In his
speech, Mr. Yacoub emphasized the role IC plays in the
life and spirit of every student and graduate and how as
alumni we feel an attachment to our Alma Mater. Dr.
Charles and Mr. Beydoun presented the graduates of
53 with a special 50-year pin. The class of
78 also
received a keepsake to commemorate the celebration.
The evening was crowned with a jubilee cake for each
class to enjoy, and the reunion continued the following
day with a family outing for lunch at Château Kefraya.
If you want to reunite with your classmates, please
send us an e-mail at alumni@ic.edu.lb. We would love
