CLASS OF ’50 - ’59
Samir Hage ’53
is now a grandfather. He and his wife travel
around the world to visit their four children: Pierre, Katia,
Charles, and Roger. Samir published a poetry book “Petites
Fleurs,” a few years ago. The book was published in four lan-
guages. Samir is shuttling between Beirut and Germany taking
care of the family business.

CLASS OF ’60 - ’69
Khaled Tabbara ’61
is a prominent eye physician and surgeon
at the Eye Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Said el Said ’62
is now a grandfather. He lives in Geneva and
he recently went to Paris to visit his son’s family: Ramiz, his wife
and their newborn baby boy.
Antoine Jehchan ’63
, an oncologist who has served on sever-
al ethics committees in the United States, gave a lecture at IC
on October 3, 2003 entitled " Medical Ethics."
Issam Kronfol ’64
is now the Managing Director of Alsaad
Contracting and Trading Co. in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Nabil Kanazeh ’64
and his wife Raida are living in Amman,
Jordan. He is the chairman of PETCO, Technical Packaging
Co, a company that makes a variety of plastic bottles and jars
for the packaging industry. Nabil commutes between Amman,
Dubai, Kuwait and Beirut. He has two daughters, Leen 24, and
Lama 22.
Muhammad A. Abu-Zaki ’64
gave a lecture on arbitration last
September, organized by the Oman Society of Engineers at the
Crowne Plaza Hotel in Muscat, Oman. Muhammad is happy to
announce that his eldest daughter Rana Abu-Zaki was married
last July to Wajdi Bu Teen.

CLASS OF ’70 - ’79
Ayman Safadi ’70
is a dentist working at GNP Hospital in
Jeddah since 1987. He owns a clinic here in Beirut. Ayman has
been married since 1986 to Nada Osman, and they are blessed
with two sons and one daughter.
Farouk Fannoush ’70
married Iman Kozak. They have one
daughter, Dana, and two sons, Fuad and Jamil. Farouk is the
General Manager of Al Mawarid Group in Saudi Arabia.
Wael Bayazid ’70
has moved from London to New York as
Managing Director of the Carlyle Group. Wael has recently been
elected a member of the IC Board of Trustees.
Gaby Abdelnour ’72
is now the Managing Director of JP
Morgan in London.
Joumana Kawar ’73
is an Executive Director at The Khalid
Shoman Foundation, Darat al Funun in Amman, Jordan.
Zeina Samara ’74
is a Finance Analyst at the World Bank in
Washington, DC. She is married to Bill Simpson and they have
a lovely baby girl, Maria.
Said Darwazah ’76
has been appointed Minister of Health in the
new Jordanian government. Said is also a member of the IC
Board of Trustees. The IC Community wishes Mr. Darwazah the
best of luck in leading the ship of health in Jordan.
Boudi Ghandour ’77
and his wife Yasmine are proud to
announce the birth of Roy Waheed Ghandour on December 24,
2002. Boudi has moved back with Carrefour to head the Central
Procurement Office for the Electronic Department for the new
Saudi operation.
Bassam Ramlawi ’78
is now living in Canada with his wife and
three daughters. He is an officer in the Canadian Air Force.
Alexander P. Awad ’78
has recently been promoted to
Development and Consumer Affairs Manager for the City of
Tampa’s Stormwater Department. Alexander and his wife are
expecting a fourth baby in April 2004.

CLASS OF ’80 - ’89
Mazen Nassar ’80
and his wife Nadine are the proud parents of
a beautiful baby girl named Emily, born on September 30, 2003
at AUH.
Ziad Khatib ’80
resides in Miami, Florida with his wife Randa
Mnaymneh Khatib and their two children, Leila (seven years) and
Sami (five years). Ziad is a pediatric hematologist and oncologist at
Miami Children’s Hospital specializing in children’s brain tumors.
Talal El Khalil ’80
recently received the Marketing Excellence
Award from Antonio Luchio, Chief Marketing Officer of PepsiCo
International. Talal and Roula Abou Dargham’88 live in Amman,
Jordan together with their two children, Mira and Nour-Talal.
Issam Kaysi ’80
is currently a visiting Professor at the
University of Toronto. He is a Professor of Civil and
Environmental Engineering at AUB.
Samer Maamari ’81
has been appointed Director of the newly
established “Facilities Planning and Design Unit,” FPDU, at the
American University of Beirut. He was previously Associate
Director then Acting Director of the Physical Plant. Samer holds
a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from AUB and a
Master’s degree in Hydraulics from the University of Michigan at
Ann Arbor.
John Magnotta ’82
is the director of Health, Physical
Education, and Athletics for the city school district of New
Rochelle, New York.
Assem Al Hajj ’82
is a general surgeon practicing in Beirut. He
is married to Dolly Fakhreddine and has a two-year-old baby girl
named Lynn.
