IC on Stage
“All the world is a stage and all men and women merely
players”
Shakespeare
To most people, drama means composing, writing, acting,
and producing plays. At the International College, however,
it is more than that. Drama at IC involves various forms of
role playing, dramatic play, and improvisation in order to
create an original script. Students involved in the various
clubs offered at the Secondary school level have the chance
to learn different acting techniques, to create new plays
based on personal experiences and thoughts, and to perform
these plays for the public. Drama students benefit from this
experience in different ways: they are provided with an out-
let for emotions, thoughts, and dreams that they cannot
explore elsewhere, and through impersonating others, they
learn to make personal choices and to find solutions for the
problems that they or their characters face. They are also
trained to communicate with others, and come to discuss
differing interpretations of roles and lives with their col-
leagues. Last but not least, students emerge from this experi-
ence as self-assured orators with a high sense of self-confi-
dence and discipline.
