monologues from “Sex, drugs and Rock’n roll” by Eric
Bogossian -15 actors (3 males – 12 females)
All these plays were directed by Mr. Chirazi and two of
them were presented in Imad Taher Auditorium. “Out of
Plays” was presented in the multipurpose room of the
Secondary School.
23 students joined the club this year and performed in June
2004.
French Drama Club
This year, the French drama club was revived after a three
year hiatus. 10 students joined the club this year, performing
in April 2004.
In addition to the abovementioned club, the Secondary
School offers two drama classes:
1-“Theatre Arts”
is offered as high
level and stan-
dard level in the
IB program over
a period of two
years. The stu-
dents in this
class study three
different theorists
and three differ-
ent theatre traditions, producing plays and involving them-
selves in different aspects of production. They present sever-
al projects to the IBO in order to be assessed. The students
taking this course produced “The Effect of Gamma Rays on
Man-in-the-Moon-Marigolds” in November 2004.
2- “Acting for Theatre”
This course is offered as an elective
course for the high-school students. The students enrolled in
this club learn the basic acting techniques and the art of
oral interpretation. They have various graded assignments.
It is very important to grant drama a place in education because
it is so essential in developing the basic human qualities.
IC Cougars Win 38 Swimming Medals
and Set a New Meet Record
A wonderful thing
happened over the
November 4-7, 2004
weekend. After
being formally invit-
ed to attend the
Cairo American
College Swimming
Invitational Meet, 17
students from the
International College committed themselves a new begin-
ning in the IC swim program. Did they succeed? Indeed,
they did! After the two-day event, IC swimmers came away
with 38 medals (15 gold, 13 silver & 10 bronze) and a new
swim meet record in the girl’s 50m breaststroke (11-12 year-
olds). What made this accomplishment even greater was
the fact that IC competed against
129 swimmers from opposing
schools. Furthermore, IC athletes
did not sustain a single injury or
mishap. In addition, CAC housing
parents repeatedly voiced their
enjoyment at having IC students
stay with them. In short, the trip
was an overwhelming success.
This in itself is the very reason
why the IC Athletic Program con-
tinues to promote sport and stu-
dent involvement. With the sin-
cere backing of our admistration, at IC, along with that of
parents and volunteers, there is no doubt that IC will further
its accomplishments not only in swimming, but in every
event it participates in this year – including additional inter-
national and local tournament play. In the end, you can be
well assured that our reputation as leaders in athletics will
only get better.
