to Beirut, and still travels on a monthly basis between Europe
and the Gulf States. Samer is married to Hedda Assi, and they
are blessed with a 4 year-old boy, Mohamed. Unfortunately,
Samer lost his father to a brain tumor ten months ago. We
send our condolences to Samer and his family.
Maher Cheaito ’88
, his wife Zeina, and their two sons Ali
and Jad are moving from Dubai to Jeddah, where Maher is
assuming the position of GCC BU Controller with PepsiCo
International.
Mazen Damiani ’89
and his wife Fadia were recently
blessed with a baby boy whom they named Sami. This is the
Damianis’ third child after Jana and Jack; the happy family
resides in Amman, Jordan.
Rana Kronfol ’89
and Fadi Hanbali were married on September
10, 2004, at BIEL, surrounded by family and friends. Rana is a
Pediatrician at Texas Children Baylor Hospital in Houston and
Fadi is a Neurosurgeon at Texas University.
Sarina Lawand ’89
married Ali Osseiran, and they are
blessed with two kids: Sabine (7) and Ghayas (4). Having
recently taken an intensive course in accounting, including
TVA and government reports, Sarina and her family have
relocated to Dubai, where Sarina now works at Saks 5th
Avenue in Bourjoman.
CLASS OF ’90 - ’99
Maher Bekdash ’90
and
Tina Khatib ’92
are the proud par-
ents of Yara (7) and Osmat (4), and are expecting a third baby
by March 2005. In addition to his successful business in fash-
ion wholesale in Saudi Arabia, Maher permanently moved to
Riyadh as the Saudi Kingdom’s Country Manager for PROAC-
TIVE, a leading web design company in the Middle East.
Dania Chaar ’90
graduated with a BS in Nutrition and
Dietetics in 1993, and then pursued an MPH in Public
Health while studying for her teaching diploma in Health
Sciences at AUB in 1998. She married Malek Nsouli, who is
the Regional Manager for Coca-Cola in Saudi Arabia. Their
four year-old daughter is named Mina. Dania is currently
living and working in Khobar, Saudi Arabia, with her family.
Hicham Merhi ’90
graduated from AUB with a BA in Public
Administration. He also earned a diploma in Banking from
USJ. He has since worked in several local banks in
Lebanon. This November, Hisham is to join BLC Bank in
Abu Dhabi as Corporate Credit Officer. Next April he will
be getting married to Jihane Hatoum.
Sana Gholmieh Naoum ’90
and her husband Dr. Joe
Naoum were blessed with a baby girl, Sophia, on April 13,
2004. The family of three resides in Texas.
Rami Saati ’90
and his wife Farah Yammout were blessed
with a baby boy, Karim, on July 29, 2004, in Beirut. The
family of three is residing in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Naaman Tayyar ’90
has been working at the US Embassy in
Lebanon for the past seven years. Naaman is a Senior
Commercial Specialist and recieved the “Employee of the
Year” award for 2003, among all US embassy employees in
the world.
Moussa Yazbeck ’90
, his wife Nancy—a former IC teacher
at Ain Aar—and their son Fouad (3), are happy to announce
the birth of baby girl Sarah on July 8, 2004. The Yazbeck
family recently moved from LA to Fort Smith, Arkansas,
where Moussa is a practicing physician.
Ramzi Alami ’91
completed his General Surgery Residency at
the Medical College of Virginia, later relocating to Palo Alto,
California, where he is currently pursuing a fellowship in
Laparoscopic Surgery at Stanford University Medical Center.
Salma W. Jaouni ’91
has just moved to the US, where she is
pursuing her master’s degree in Public Administration at the
Kennedy School of Government. Salma expects to be there
until the summer of 2005.
Amira Alwan ’92
received her MSc in Agricultural Economics
from AUB. She works as a Senior Researcher with AMROP
International, an executive consulting firm based in Beirut
and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Amira is married to Mazen B.
Najjar, and they are blessed with a daughter, Yasmeen.
Rabih Al-Kaysi ’92
is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the depart-
ment of chemistry, Center for Photo-Induced Charge
Transfer, at the University of Rochester, New York.
Walid Messeike ’92
would like to announce his marriage to
Sumaya Mourad on July 24, 2004, at the Pavillion Royal - BIEL.
The newlyweds enjoyed a romantic honeymoon in the beauti-
ful cities of Italy, after which they flew to their home in Dubai.
Hala Refaat ’92
is happy to announce her marriage to
Maroun Sarrouh on September 4, 2004. The couple tied the
knot in St Elias Church, Kantari, following this up with a
dinner at the Grand Hills Village Resort.
Shereen Talih ’92
is now creating and designing clothing for
kids, and is proud to announce the opening of her first
shop, “Frenzy,” in Verdun 730.
Randa Abla ’93
and Serge Cherfan, an associate at Booz
Allen Hamilton, tied the knot on July 3, 2004, at the
Country Lodge - Bsalim. The couple met at Citibank N.A.,
Beirut, where they both worked for several years. They spent
their honeymoon in South Africa and the Mauritius Islands
