Amer El-Rifai ’93
is happy to announce his wedding to
Horiana Anzaldo on November 15, 2004, in Castello di
Falconara, Butera, in Sicily, Italy. The newlyweds will reside
in Beirut, Lebanon.
Mustapha El-Habbal ’94
would like to announce his mar-
riage to Hiba El-Labban on June 2 in Beirut. Mustapha grad-
uated from AUB in 1998 with a CCE degree and then
received his MS in Computer Science from California State
University at Long Beach. He then moved to Boston,
Massachusetts, where he and his wife have settled. He
works as a Senior Software Engineer at Cisco Systems, Inc.,
and Hiba works as Senior Associate Auditor in KPMG.
Mariane Maasri ’94
graduated from LAU, obtaining an MA
in International Affairs. She has been accepted in the PhD
program in Educational Administration at Leicester
University and will be starting in November 2004.
Ghinwa Sleit Tarabey ’94
would like to share the birth of
her second daughter with you! Lara, a healthy baby girl,
was born on June 14, 2004.
Farid Talih ’94
and Nadine Zeidan were married on June 26,
2004 in BIEL. They are now living in Cleveland, Ohio,
where Farid is completing his residency in Psychiatry at the
Cleveland Clinic.
Mohamad-Ali Trad ’94
is now working as a doctor for Western
Health Hospitals in Melbourne, Australia. He plans to travel
and work in Australia and the world. In an update he sent the
IC Alumni Office, Mohamed says: “…So, if you are available
for a drink sometime and somewhere, let me know—I just
might be there. My phone number is 61-4-04236944.”
Dareen Charafeddine ’95
and Amer Abou Sleiman celebrat-
ed their wedding on July 17, 2004, at BIEL. The newlyweds
now reside in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Amer Khayyat ’95
graduated in 1999 from Brown University
in Providence, Rhode Island, obtaining a BSc in Mechanical
Engineering. He then went to the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, for an MA
in Environmental Engineering. After MIT, he joined
Schlumberger Wireline, an oilfield services company for
which he currently works as a Reservoir Evaluation
Engineer. In the past four years he has worked in Saudi
Arabia, Qatar, Yemen, and most recently in Aberdeen,
Scotland.
Fadi Mirza ’95
married Lama el Dana on September 2 at
BIEL. The newlyweds are living in Boston, Massachusetts,
while Fadi pursues an internship in Obstetrics and
Gynecology at Tufts University.
Assem Dandashly ’96
finished his MA in International
Affairs last year at LAU. He was then granted a Fulbright
Scholarship for the year July 2003-May 2004. Assem spent
the year doing research at Marquette University in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin (US), and today is pursuing his PhD
in Political Science at the University of Oklahoma in
Norman. His focus will be on Comparative Politics,
American Politics, and International Relations.
Ghada Naamani Demashkieh ’96
and her husband Zahi
Demashkieh were blessed with a baby girl, Jana, on August
31, 2004.
Dana Issawi ’96
and
Mustapha Karanouh ’96
were married
on June 25, 2004. The newlyweds currently reside in the US.
Mustapha graduated with an MD from Beirut Arab University
and is now working as a Physician/Clinical Fellow at Bay
State Medical Center in Massachusetts. Dana was an English
teacher here at IC Middle School from 1999 to 2002.
Mohamad Haidar ’96
has been living and working as an
architect for a firm in Los Angeles as of October 2002, and
unfortunately has not had the chance to visit Lebanon since.
When Mohamad sent us his update he added: “If anyone

Rana Al-Assah ’97
graduated with a BS degree in Biology
from AUB in June 2000. She then pursued her PhD in Gene
Therapy and Cancer at the University Of Manchester in the
UK, graduating in July 2004. Rana is currently working as
an Assistant Professor at Abu Dhabi University, UAE, and

Bana Bashour ’97
is currently studying for her PhD in philoso-
phy at the University of CUNY (City University of New York).
Maya Charara ’97
was married to Wael Marji on August 27,
2004, at the Gefinor Rotana Hotel. The newlyweds are now
living in Abu Dhabi.
Omar Fakhoury ’97
was recently promoted to Night
Manager at the Millennium Hotel, a leading 5 stars hotel in
Abu Dhabi. Omar states in his email to the IC Alumni and
Development Office that “IC is never out of my mind, it has
its special place in our hearts and I always remember and
miss the great moments we had there.”
