Alton Reynolds Volleyball
Tournament
The Annual Alton Reynolds Volleyball Tournament was
held November 17-19, 2005. In addition to the IC host
teams, the tournament included four other schools, both
local and international.
A total of 27 games were played over the 3-day tourna-
ment. In all, the tournament featured many thrills to
delight the many fans that attended.
As always, the most exciting games
proved to be the finals.
After a hard fought battle against
ACS, our Varsity Girls’ were forced
to play American International
School of Riyadh for 3rd place.
Though the lead changed several
times, in the end our IC Varsity Girls
emerged victorious, proving once
again that they are a highly competi-
tive team, both locally and interna-
tionally. Bravo to the girls and
Coach Osman Osman for a great
performance.
Equally exciting was the Varsity
Boys’ division. After coming back from a
fourth placing in the round-robin, defeating
both Amman Baccalaureate School of Jordan
and the American Community School of Beirut,
the IC boys made it to the final against Sagesse
High School. With a display of heavy-hitting
and rally play, though, it was Sagesse that
came out on top. In the end, and thanks to
Coach Dan Summers, the IC Boys were justly
proud of their performance, and their second
place trophy.
It should also be noted that our Junior Varsity
teams played at the ACS JV Volleyball
Tournament, held the same weekend. This
tournament also involved both local and inter-
national teams. It was an auspicious beginning,
as our very first JV Teams performed beyond
expectations, and have already sparked a surge of interest
in volleyball among younger players. The JV volleyball
program continues to grow, and we must thank Coach
Mike McCurdy for making this possible. Bravo!
A special note of gratitude goes out to the assisting IC staff,
as well as Tarek Mousally for his role as Tournament
Director. Thank you from all of us.
