CLASS OF ’50 - ’59
Nouhad Dammous ’51
has been Publisher and Editor-in-
Chief of Hospitality News magazine and E-news since 1996,
and is also President of Hospitality Services, organizers of
Horeca Lebanon, Horeca Kuwait, IHF Jordan and Garden
Show Lebanon.
CLASS OF ’60 - ’69
Dr. Tony Anid ’61
has gone back to being a health care
consultant for health insurance companies and also a direc-
tor for a surgical center. So much for retirement!
Mounir Barakat ’64
has been Managing Director of the
Business Product Development Division of Wafra Group in
New York since 1999. He recently bought a summer home
in Baabdat to keep close ties with his family and classmates
from the class of 1964.
Mazin Irani ’64
and his wife Safa live in Randolph, New
Jersey. As the Manager of Purchasing and Planning for
Cytec Industries, Mazin is constantly traveling all over the
world. Luckily, he never misses visiting his family and
friends in Lebanon at least twice a year.
Dr. Nicolas Tabbal ’65
is a distinguished plastic surgeon in
New York, where he holds his own private clinic on Park
Avenue; he is also in the Department of Surgery in NYU
Medical Center.
Hassan Hage Ali ’66
got married in 1977; he has three love-
ly daughters and one son. He is also the grandfather of two
lovely granddaughters, Luna (7) and Mida (2). After Hassan
graduated from AUB’s Faculty of Engineering in 1970, he
went into the construction business till 1975, when he
moved to the UAE. In 1976 he left for Saudi Arabia, where
he joined an engineering consultancy office. In 1993 he
took the position of Construction Manager for the Olayan
Group in KSA, then worked for short terms as the construc-
tion manager for the Al Jumaih Group and then for
Progressive, an international construction company. In 2002
he moved back to Lebanon, and is today the Construction
Supervision Manager for the Platinum Tower Project, adja-
cent to Monroe Hotel.
Dr. Ayman Safadi ’69
still resides in Jeddah, KSA, where he
works as a dental surgeon at GNP General Hospital. His
elder son Rani who entered AUB, Faculty of Computer
Science, is doing well. Nader, the middle son, and daughter
Haya had no chance to enter IC this year, so they joined
Lycee School instead, hoping next year to be part of IC.
Ayman’s family is residing in Beirut, and he is hoping to
come back to Lebanon to work in his private clinic.
CLASS OF ’70 - ’79
Dr. Mahmoud Barbir ’70
is a distinguished cardiologist at
Harefield Hospital in the United Kingdom.
Ousama Naaman '70
graduated from AUB with a bache-
lor’s degree in Business Administration, and married Laurice
Khalil '70, who graduated from AUB with a master’s degree
in Business Administration. They were blessed with two
children, Marwan and Mira. Marwan Naaman graduated
from the Business School of George Washington University,
Washington DC, with a bachelor’s degree in Business
Administration. He married Maria Maynard in Monte Carlo
this summer. Mira Naaman graduated from Boston
University with a BA in International Relations. The
Naaman family, except Mira who is working in London, live
and work in Abu Dhabi, UAE. They can be reached at:

Vreij Kolandjian ’71
has joined Yellowstone as Chief
Executive Officer after 29 years of experience in various
food and consumer products companies, including Mars
Inc., Uncle Ben's, Bongrain, and Proctor & Gamble. He
now resides in Houston, Texas, USA.
Sarmad Rihani ’72
is Principal and Chief Executive Officer
of BEI Structural Engineers of Fairfax, Virginia, a structural
engineering consulting firm serving the eastern United
States. He is in charge of administration, business develop-
ment, and planning for the firm, and has over 22 years of
experience in the structural analysis and design of steel
framing systems. He is a licensed professional engineer in
several states, and is a Fellow of the American Society of
Civil Engineers (ASCE). Sarmad has been elected to serve as
Chairman-Elect of the Structural Engineers Association of
Metropolitan Washington, DC (SEA-MW) 2005-2006. He
will serve as actual chairman in 2006-2007. SEA-MW is
comprised of 50 structural engineering firms from
Metropolitan DC and focuses its activities on business relat-
ed issues in the structural engineering field. It is worth not-
ing that this is the first time since SEA-MW’s inception in
1987 that a Lebanese-American is elected to lead its activi-
ties.
Walid Chammah ’73
was appointed Head of Investment
Banking, with global responsibility for Morgan Stanley’s cor-
porate advisory, underwriting and principal activities busi-
nesses; he will also join the firm’s Management Committee.
Walid joined Morgan Stanley in 1993 as Head of U.S. Debt
Capital Markets, and in 1996 was appointed Head of
Global Capital Markets, an integrated client solution group.
Omar Sawaf ’73
is Chairman of Yellowstone Capital in
Houston, Texas. Omar is an industrial engineer and MBA by
education, and has an extensive background in the formation
and development of companies in the energy, manufacturing,
healthcare and real estate/ building materials industries.
Hani Beyhum ’76
holds a BE in Civil Engineering from
AUB, and an MBA from Columbia University in New York.
He is Vice President of Olayan America Corporation, the
US arm of the Olayan Group. The group is a diversified
commercial, industrial, service and investment enterprise
with about fifty companies engaged in business in Saudi
